At Meadowside Osteopathy, we understand that many patients prefer to use their private health insurance to cover the cost of treatment. We aim to make this process as straightforward as possible so you can focus on your recovery and well-being.
Osteopathy is recognised by a wide range of private health insurance providers in the UK.Â
Depending on the details of your individual policy, your fees may be reimbursed in full or in part. The following insurers often provide cover for osteopathic treatment:
Please note:Â For work-funded health insurance policy, they often have a reimbursement limit of around ÂŖ40 per session.Â
We recommend checking your policy to understand what you’re covered for.Â

Every insurance plan is different, so we always recommend contacting your provider directly before booking your appointment. This ensures that you are aware of the level of cover available, any restrictions on the number of sessions, and whether your insurer requires any prior approval before you begin treatment.
Please note: at Meadowside we are unable to adhere to any capped fees in place that may apply to your policy.
Insurance Information for Laser & Shockwave Therapy
Please note: If youâre planning to claim back the cost of our machine sessions, (Laser Therapy (Class 4 MLS) or Shockwave Therapy (EMS Swiss DolorClast) treatments are not always automatically covered â approval from your insurer is required.
To keep things simple and transparent, we kindly ask all patients to pay for their appointments directly at the time of treatment. You can then submit a claim to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Before attending your appointment, we strongly advise checking the following with your insurer:
Whether osteopathic treatment is included in your policy.
We are more than happy to provide a detailed invoice or receipt containing all the necessary information to support your claim.
Our team has plenty of experience supporting patients who use private medical insurance. While policies and procedures vary between insurers, we will do our best to help guide you through the process and ensure you have everything you need.
If you have any questions about how to claim for osteopathy through your insurance, or if you are unsure whether your provider covers our services, please do not hesitate to contact them.Â
Every health insurance policy is different. While some policies reimburse the full cost of treatment, others have a fixed reimbursement limit or cap the amount they’ll pay per session.
As a small independent clinic, we set our fees based on the time, expertise and personalised care we provide to every patient. Unlike some larger providers, we’re unable to tailor our fees to the individual reimbursement rates set by each insurer.
If your insurer reimburses less than our treatment fee, the remaining balance would be your responsibility. We always recommend contacting your insurer before your appointment to confirm exactly what your policy covers and whether any limits apply.
